#NextMayorPHL: The Importance of Voting

In Philadelphia, locals share their opinions on why voting in Pennsylvania elections matters.

To many, voting represents basic human rights.  Minorities, such as women and African Americans, worked extremely hard to have their voices heard.

From abolishing grandfather clauses to achieving women’s suffrage, Americans have fought for their beliefs in order to partake in what defines democracy – a voice of the people.

Too often citizens take their right to vote for granted, and consider it a privilege; however, nothing could be further from the truth.  As one voter states, “Why wouldn’t you vote when it takes years to get the right?”

Ultimately, the power of the people will change the future of Philadelphia for the better.
