Owls Snag First Philly Soccer Six Win

The Temple men’s soccer team continues their winning streak with a win against the Drexel Dragons. The Owls beat the Dragons 4-0 for their third straight win, and this puts Temple at 5-5-1 on the season and 1-1 in the Philly Soccer Six.

The Owls came out strong from the beginning and scored within 12 seconds of the game when Freshman Alan Camacho Soto took advantage of a Drexel Turnover and took a shot into the bottom left corner of the goal. The second goal of the game came off a corner kick where Redshirt Senior Mark Grasela was able to slip the ball in to the net and give the Owls a 2-0 advantage. With an assist from Junior Herman Doerner, Sophomore Thiabault Candia was able to give the Owls their 3rd goal of the night by getting the ball past the Drexel defenders and firing it in the net. The final goal for the Owls was scored by none other than Redshirt Senior Mark Grasela, and this was his 2nd goal of the night.

Temple was able to outshoot Drexel 24-12, and the Owls also had 10 shots on goal while the Dragons only recorded 3 shots on goal. The Drexel goalkeeper had 6 saves, while Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Samnik recorded 3 saves. Both teams had 4 corner kicks, however, Temple was able to capitalize on one of their corner kicks and score.
