Screen Shot 2014-11-17 at 10.30.12 PMThe new Rothman Institute Skating Rink next to City Hall in Dilworth Park is ready for the skates to hit the ice.

The project which has been in the works for the past two years opened with a special ceremony on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014. The ceremony included the cutting of a hand sculpted ice ribbon, along with performances by The Philadelphia Boy’s Choir, and professional figure skaters. The day long event gave the public a chance to skate for free and give the new attraction a spin.

This comes on the heels of Dilworth Park’s renovation.

Vice President of Marketing for The Center City District, Michelle Shannon stated that she thinks the new skating rink “will bring vitality during a quiet time in the city”
