The Owls came off a two game losing streak on the road and got a much needed win at home to get back to their winning ways Saturday. After a slow first half offensively, where Temple scored one goal by Jorge Gomez Sanchez, the Owls defense proved to be resilient, allowing zero shots. As the second half got underway the Owls took off scoring three goals in a span of 11 minutes. Sanchez had a hat trick to make the victory even sweeter, adding three goals and a assist to Jonas Jokinen.

The Owls now stand at 5-2-0 as they hit the road for their next game on Saturday, Sept. 24, against the UConn Huskies.

Temple dominated on shot selection against the Stags on a margin of 14-2. The win gave the Owls a much needed confidence boost heading into conference play.

As the Owls begin to prepare for their first AAC conference game against the UConn Huskies, Head Coach Dave MacWilliams said he believes the Owls are up for the challenge. “Obviously it’s gonna be tough, hostile confines up at UConn. They are a very good team, they have a lot of history and I think our guys are gonna be ready, I think we are looking forward to the challenge,” said MacWilliams.

The last time these teams went head to head on the turf, the Huskies brought a heartbreaking end to the Owls season.

The Temple men’s soccer team rebounded with a 4-0 shutout win against the Fairfield Stags after a two game losing streak with three goals coming from Jorge Gomez Sanchez. Joonas Jokinen also chipped in a goal for his fourth of the season to complete the shut out.
