Wedding Bells in Windsor: Princess Eugenie’s Royal Wedding

Wedding bells were ringing last Friday morning as Princess Eugenie’s royal ceremony marked the second royal wedding of this year. The Queen’s granddaughter and her fiance Jack Brooksbank said their “I do’s” at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, the same church that Prince Harry chose to marry Meghan Markle this past May. Members of the public were excited to be apart of yet another royal event, including Windsor resident Maria Mendis.

“We’re mega excited that we’ve got the second royal wedding outside our doorsteps. It’s literally two or five minutes from the car and we just get here in five minutes and we’re so happy that we are here today. The atmosphere’s amazing,” she says.

The princess and her fiance have a growing popularity amongst the public. Around 850 People gathered along the streets of Windsor to join the couple on their big day.

“Well they make the town really”, John Coulibaly said, “They make Windsor nice because they live here, give a lot back to the community, and who wouldn’t love living with a castle next door to you?”

The wedding service began at 11 am and lasted until noon, where the newlyweds then took a horse and carriage procession through the streets of Windsor. For some, this day is a moment of unity.

“Everyone around the world is going to be enjoying this event today, which is really exciting for Windsor and the whole of the UK and everyone around the world to be able to share in this event as well, it really is, the atmosphere really is lovely.”

The Princess is ninth in line to the throne after the birth of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s third child, Louis.

As the carriage makes its way back towards the castle the princess and her husband will be taking place in two additional wedding ceremonies, one being hosted by the Queen.
