2018 Youth Drug Summit Hosted at Temple University

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s Philadelphia Division hosted the 2018 Youth Drug Summit at the Howard Ghittis Student Center on Tuesday, November 27.

Kids from the surrounding 5 Kensington and Fairhill elementary schools came to the Student Center to discuss the opioid epidemic and ways to combat the crisis.

Breakout sessions were hosted throughout the building promoting inclusive involvement with the elementary students, the community and student mentors.

The event was a partnership between the DEA, Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA), SpArc the Philadelphia Police Department and other agencies.

Student mentors from Temple University came to help, along with theater students from Alexander K. McClure Elementary School, the Isaac A. Sheppard School, the Bayard Taylor School, the St. Veronica School, the Mariana Bracetti Academy Charter School and student mentors from Temple University attended the event.
