Temple University’s own Baker Dave will take his talents back to national television on November 19th.
This year, Baker Dave will be a participant in the Food Network’s “Christmas Cookie Challenge,” kicking off at 10 p.m.
This is Baker Dave’s second appearance on the Food Network. In 2009, he competed in the original Food Network Challenge.
“I had applied for things before,” Dave told Temple Update. “They’ll go through their list, even years later, and maybe think that someone would be good for a particular show.”
In his ten years at Temple, Baker Dave has graced Temple University every year with treats for University-wide occasions, particular for the yearly Homecoming celebration. Baker Dave has designed everything from a Bell Tower themed cake , a foam finger cake, and even a large Temple Owl cake.
“Ninety percent of the things we do here at Temple, we make from scratch,” Dave explained. “We do not open mix bags – everything from the cakes, for example, are made from scratch. Decorating the cakes alone for Homecoming can take upwards of 16 hours.”
Baker Dave hosts his own show on TUTV entitled “Baker Dave Presents…”, which has accumulated over 50 episodes and counting.
