I said I don’t want us to compete with Oklahoma, LSU, etc. I want us to compete with Harvard, Stanford, etc. This was in response to his announcement that John would be the BB coach. One Monday around dinner time, I got a call. It was from (and I am tearing up now) Peter who assured me academics will be a priority. When he retired, I joined the reception line at the Center to say goodby and good luck. He said: I still have your letter. Good man, who will be missed in the Philadelphia community.
I live in AZ now. I was very proud of the football team; by more so that all the seniors were graduated, that the entire athletic dept. teams achieved an average GPA of 3.0+. Peter would be proud as well.
