Men’s Basketball Tops Missouri 79-77 in First True Road Game

In their first true road game, the Owls kept it interesting until the final buzzer.
A strong contribution from bench players gave the Owls the spark they needed to notch a 79-77 victory over Missouri.

Temple’s Bench combined for 20 points, more than double Missouri’s. Damione Moore led the reserve players with 10 points, a season high. Alani Moore II and J.P Moorman II each had 5 a piece as well. Altogether the Owls had four players score in double figures.

Quinton Rose led all Temple players and was just one point shy of leading all players on the scoreboard. Rose added 18 points to the Owls triumph and tied his season best of four steals. Shizz Alston Jr. contributed 15 points, including a pair of clutch free throws to put the game out of reach for Missouri in the final seconds of play. De’Vondre Perry also scored a season-bestof 11 points.

The Owls strong field shooting percentage of 51% made up for their lack of rebounding. The Owls grabbed their fewest rebounds in a contest this matchup with only 25. Missouri was able to out-rebound the Owls with 38 boards. Ernest Aflakpui did, however, tie his career best of 12 rebounds in addition to his 8 points for the Owls.

Temple improves to 6-1 overall, also earning their second victory over an SEC team this season. They head down the road to the Hagan Arena on Saturday, December 1, to take on St. Joe’s. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm. The game can be streamed on NBCSN.
