# Owls Craft Valentine's Day Gifts

Temple students are crafting new ways to show appreciation for their loved ones this Valentine's Day.

The [Makerspace](https://library.temple.edu/spaces/makerspace) hosts a Valentine’s Day centered workshop where students can come in and utilize [technology](https://library.temple.edu/services/makerspace-technology) to create personalized Valentine’s Day gifts for their loved ones. Encouraging students to create custom greeting cards, stickers, 3D prints, and trinkets. Inspired by the spirit of love, event organizer and Makerspace manager [Hannah Tardie](https://sites.temple.edu/tudsc/about/current-staff/hannah-tardie/) gives an insight into their love for the holiday and motivations for the event.

"...and I also think it's really important to encourage students to celebrate love, and I want the Makerspace to be a place where people feel really open and collaborative about expressing themselves.."

Makerspace studio offers faculty, staff, and students access to 3D Printers, laser, and vinyl cutters. Pricing and additional information about their [3D Printing & Laser Cutting Policies](https://library.temple.edu/policies/7) are available online. Makerspace is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm. [Appointments](https://charlesstudy.temple.edu/spaces?lid=7710&gid=35808&c=0) are available online alternatively, they do accept walk-ins.

In the workshop, Temple students got to create thoughtful gifts with the help of 3D printers. Tardie eases the mind of cautious newcomers who may be unfamiliar with the technology.

"Everything that we have in the space, we have tutorials and one-on-one help that we can give to get you situated with the machine."

Tardie says that you don’t have to be an expert to participate. Temple Owl and Sophomore Janelle Vuong set to prove this with her participation in the workshop.

"I used the 3D printer to make some hearts with a customized message for some of my friends."
