Philadelphia and Temple Students Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

Philadelphia painted the city green as thousands gathered to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the annual Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The long-standing tradition, dating back to 1771, started near 16th and JFK and made its way down Benjamin Franklin Parkway before ending at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. At the base of the Rocky Steps, Irish pride was on full display.

A Celebration of First-Gen Students

Temple launched its inaugural First-Generation College Celebration this week, and kicked off events with a resource fair. Over 200 students attended the event, which had games, snacks, and a variety of department tables ready to connect with students. Calista Condo, an outreach specialist at the career center and a first-generation student herself, helped organize the event.

Celebrate Fall at the Chrysanthemum Festival

The Chrysanthemum Festival is an annual celebration of Fall at Longwood Gardens. Longwood horticulturists spend over 18 months grooming different types of mums into various shapes and forms. The tradition to preserve the Asian horticulture art started in 1981 and is the largest mum show in North America. Each unique display and sculpture rests in the four-acre conservatory.

Eagles Parade Details: SEPTA Service Changes

After coming out on top in Super Bowl LII, Philadelphia will celebrate the Eagles with a parade this Thursday. The parade will begin at 11 AM at Broad and Pattison, and end with a ceremony at the Art Museum. The ceremony is expected to last from 1 PM to 3 PM. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney believes attendance may exceed the estimated one million people who attended the 2008 Phillies parade.
