Philadelphia and Temple Students Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

Philadelphia painted the city green as thousands gathered to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the annual Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The long-standing tradition, dating back to 1771, started near 16th and JFK and made its way down Benjamin Franklin Parkway before ending at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. At the base of the Rocky Steps, Irish pride was on full display.

University organization Temple PEX has recently constructed several tiny libraries on campus for students to be able to find great books on the go. Philadelphia on Track for Most Violent Year

“2021 is on track to be the most violent year we’ve experienced in our lifetimes” said Mayor Jim Kenney at a city-wide briefing on gun violence, the first of many to come. City leaders met last week to discuss the issue of gun violence as the numbers climb higher and higher. Over the weekend, a shooting in Nicetown left five people wounded and one man dead. He was shot 14 times.

Geno’s Steaks welcomes “Whizzy”

Geno’s Steaks revealed on Monday a brand new, wide-eyed, 6-foot tall cheesesteak mascot appropriately named “Whizzy”. The process started a year ago when current owner Geno Vento wanted to do something vastly different that no other cheesesteak place in Philadelphia has done before.
