Lew Klein, a pioneering Philadelphia television producer whose broadcasting career spanned more than six decades, died at age 91 on Wednesday. In the 1950s, Klein served as executive producer of American Bandstand, the popular music-performance and dance television program. The Dick Clark-hosted show helped shape mainstream American popular culture throughout its decades-long run.

Netflix Turns Philadelphia Into Stars Hollow, Connecticut

Promoting the revival of the early 2000s television show Gilmore Girls, Netflix took over three Philadelphia coffee shops early Wednesday morning. Three HubBub coffee shops were transformed into the diner frequently featured in the show, “Luke’s Diner.” Opening at 7 a.m., patrons were given free coffee, a t-shirt, and a keychain; all with pictures and quotes significant to the popular show.

As Andy Sandberg hosted the 67th Annual Primetime Emmys on Sunday, the 33rd Annual Mid-Atlantic Emmys took place a little closer to home. The Philadelphia Hilton Hotel hosted over 500 of the region’s top television talent, handing out 81 Emmys throughout the night. Comcast SportsNet/The Comcast Network took home the largest haul of the night: 11 Emmys from their 31 nominations.
