This past weekend marked a significant date for Philadelphia’s Ukrainian community. Pro-Ukraine protestors took to the streets over the weekend to rally against Trump’s policy shift. Then one day, mourners gathered on the University of Pennsylvania campus to remember the lives lost to the war. Temple Update spoke with vigilgoers about their thoughts, three years on since the start of the war.

Ukraine Focus of International Hour

International Student Affairs hosted another coffee hour event, and this one was Ukrainian-themed. Students and guests were invited to enjoy Ukrainian food and drinks over discussions and presentations about Ukraine and its history. The event was focused on sharing Ukrainian culture and heritage and some students spoke about the importance of sharing their culture in a time like now.

Philadelphians Rally for Ukraine

A rally for local Ukrainians at the Philadelphia Museum of Art took place late January, as tensions rise on the Ukrainian border with Russia.. Hundreds of local Ukrainians gathered outside the Museum of Art with signs and chanted “to stop Putin now.” Philadelphia Ukrainians say they worry about this situation and want the threats against their community to stop.
