Temple Honors Veterans with Military Arts Mural

Temple Universities’ office of Military and Veteran Services will honor those who have served in the Temple community with the unveiling of a new mural today.

The piece, titled “While you were sleeping” features images of current Temple students and alumni who either currently serve or have served in the U.S. military.

The mural is the culmination of a creative partnership between alumni and military veteran Nathan McChristy and the Veteran’s services center.

McChristy, a graduate of Temple’s Tyler school of art, is also an armed services veteran, having spent over 7 years working with military servicemen and women

The office of Veteran Services has stated that “While You Were Sleeping represents just a small percentage of Temple University’s military population and portrays individuals transitioning from uniformed service to servitude towards their communities.”

The work will be hosted in room 601 of Conwell hall and an official unveiling ceremony will host members of the Temple community and veterans of the armed forces.

“As Temple University continues to honor its military service members, look into the eyes and recognize the sacrifices they have made on behalf of the people of the United States of America.” Temple’s office of Veteran affairs stated regarding the service.

This event will also be apart of Temple’s continued support of Military Appreciation Month.
