# Temple Flu Shots Available Through October

https://youtu.be/7fG9y9FTQH8 Temple University was giving out free flu shots for students, staff, and faculty on October 15th with the help of Temple’s own [Student Health Services](https://www.temple.edu/studenthealth/). Temple has been doing this event for quite some time for the Temple community, helping over 1,000 students and employees get their vaccine without the inconvenience of leaving campus. Though the event was held on the 15th of October this year, people can still acquire a shot from Temple through the flu season. Additionally, those located on other Temple campuses can find vaccination events at different [dates, times and locations](https://www.temple.edu/studenthealth/Flu_Shot_Clinics.html), the final chance for a flu shot through Temple is October 30, 2019.  Though some people have shied away from the flu shot due to misinformation, TUHS wants to dispel the rumors: -A common misconception is that shots place a live virus of influenza into one's body, when in actuality there is nothing living in the needle, with the vaccine actually being synthesized from chicken eggs. -The only people who should be wary of taking a flu vaccine are people allergic to eggs, as well as any baby under 6 months. If you don’t meet this criteria, you’re more than likely good to take the vaccine. -There are always exceptions however, and if you have a high fever, difficulty breathing, or dizziness, you should call your doctor or even 9-1-1 if you believe what you’re experiencing is an emergency.
