Coming nearly a year after the death of West Chester University student Ali Fausnaught, a second victim fell to his death from the fifth floor of the same Kardon-Atlantic Apartment Complex at 10th and Norris on Sunday, April 13.
The unidentified 21-year-old man was staying with two friends and neither were present when the accident occurred.
NBC 10 reported that Philadelphia Police say the man, whose name has not been released, was not a Temple student, but rather visiting friends for the weekend. Police further stated he was alone in their room at 12:30 a.m. when he fell to his death. Being the second incident involving the Kardon Apartments this academic year, some students found the lack of information alarming.
“Well I didn’t hear about the incident on Saturday until someone from home actually texted me and asked me if someone died in my apartment building,” said Armani Lee, a Kardon resident.
“I didn’t recieve any notification until someone asked me about it a few days later and I saw the news report on NBC10,” said Claire Voegela, a two year resident of Kardon.
The medical examiners office is investigating if alcohol was a factor in the fall. The PMC Property Group, which owns Kardon-Atlantic was unavailable to comment about the incident.
