Temple women’s lacrosse is building momentum after a historic win across the city.
The Owls traveled to face No. 17 University of Pennsylvania, a team they had not defeated since 2004. That changed with a dominant 14–9 victory.
Temple Update sports anchor Jeremy DeLia has the play-by-play.
Temple got off to a fast start in the first half, jumping out to a 1–0 lead before Sabrina Martin found Sarah Gowman, who fired a shot past the goalkeeper to make it 2–0. By halftime, the Owls held an 8–4 advantage.
Gowman continued her standout performance in the second half, scoring her fifth goal of the game — a career high. In the fourth quarter, with Temple leading 13–8, Laura Cooper connected with Amelia Wright, who netted her third goal of the game to complete a hat trick and record her 100th career point.
With the 14–9 win, Temple improves to 6–0 for the first time since 1988.
The Owls will return to Howarth Field tomorrow to host Delaware State as they look to stay undefeated.
