Searching for the perfect pumpkin to carve, and finding the crispiest apple to put in apple pie, are among the most beloved fall time traditions. Sometimes it is difficult for college students, especially those in the urban settings, to find a place to go where they can participate in these fall festivities. Lucky enough for us, we have access to some perfect farms and orchards outside of Philly.
Linvilla Orchards is a family favorite of those who grew up in the Greater Philadelphia area. It has an apple orchard, and their annual Pumpkinland, which will be set up until November 8th. Linvilla orchards is only an hour away by car, in Media, PA. It is a great day trip to take with your closest friends!
In Chester Springs, PA, there is a cute little farm called Milky Way, which is home to an amazing pumpkin patch, there are about 25,000 pumpkins. Along with pumpkin picking, you can go on hayrides, eat at the creamery, and enjoy all things fall.
Next up we have Shady Brook Farms, located in Morrisville, PA. Shady Brook is known for apple and pumpkin picking, along with lots of different festivals each weekend in October. You can either drive here, which would take about 50 minutes, or take the train on the West Trenton Line, to the Langhorne stop, then take a bus at Comly Ave. and take that to the PA 332 Bypass.
Fall is upon us, and what better way enjoy the season, then going apple and pumpkin picking?
