Camden, NJ. (4/13/14) – The USF Bulls rode a four run spurt to finish the series with Temple Men’s Baseball in a 6-3 win.
Temple struck first in the opening inning on a Robert Amaro RBI single. USF answered with 3B Zac Gilcrease getting a sac fly to tie the game at one, and added two more in the third on a groundout and sac fly.
Up two, SS Kyle Teaf placed the suicide squeeze in the third with the bunt as SP Ryan Keuhn was pulled an inning later. SP Tommy Peterson was rolling for the Bulls, getting five Temple hitters to strike out in six innings of work.
The Owls made a game of it with 2B Josh Mason tripling in the seventh and 2B Reyn Sugai grounding out to drive in two. RP Connor Staskey endured unfortunate luck in the eighth. Despite pitching a scoreless two innings, he walked two batters in the inning to set up the game’s determining play. Sugai botched a play at second allowing two runs to score and increase the lead to three.
CP Lawarence Pardo, who came in the seventh, closed out the 6-3 win and USF clinched the series. Amaro led the Owls at the plate going 3-4 and Ryan Keuhn (2-2) went 5.0 innings letting up four runs. Peterson (3-1) picked up the win.
