Temple University celebrated up-and-coming female filmmakers at this month’s Diamond Screen Women’s Film Festival.

The Diamond Screen Film Festival is an annual event, now in its ninth year, that is organized by Temple University’s School of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts. The event is dedicated to showcasing talented artists within the media arts program. The women’s fest specifically was organized by Diamond Screen and the Mise En Femme film group. This month’s screening occurred at The Reel (a movie theatre on Temple’s campus) and featured a juried selection of ten student films. The films span a wide range of genres and pushed the boundaries of traditional storytelling.

These filmmakers challenged themselves to go beyond convention. Some had to get creative while working under tight deadlines and around various limitations. Others spent months on their films, experimented with different modes of storytelling, and even shot their movies in different countries. Despite any challenges faced, all of these filmmakers were able to walk away with end products that they could be proud of. Some of the directors walked away with an award!
