Eagles Super Bowl Victory Parade

The city came out in full force last Friday to celebrate this year's Super Bowl Champs.

Fly, Eagles fly! The city came out in full force last Friday to celebrate this year’s Super Bowl Champs. The Philadelphia Eagles hosted their second championship victory parade after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in this year’s game.

Temple University President John Fry announced that the campus would be closed on Friday due to SEPTA’s unique parade schedule. School closings and free subway rides allowed birds of all ages to participate in the festivities. Many onlookers gathered in clusters, while other fans climbed trees and perched on top of their vehicles to get a bird’s eye view of the celebration.

Eagles fans in South Philly gather near Broad and Shunk to enjoy the parade.

The parade kicked off in South Philly on Broad Street at 11am and ended at the Philadelphia Museum of Art where the team took the “Rocky” steps. Two buses carried the NFL champs as they made several stops along the parade route. Players Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and Brandon Graham were among the familiar faces proudly carrying the team’s hard-earned Lombardi Trophy during the procession. Joining them were team mascot Swoop and the Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders, decorating the sky with green smoke and confetti as they cheered along.

Fans from all over had fun and creative ways of showing their Eagles pride. From getting decked out in Eagles merch, to making Valentine’s for their favorite players, to dressing up their pets, everywhere you looked in the sea of green was full of enthusiasm and excitement. Fans didn’t just look the part, they sounded it, too. The Eagles chant echoed through the crowds all day as fans danced along to music and kept the party going strong.

The team’s second Super Bowl victory means a lot to diehard fans. Some were celebrating on behalf of loved ones, while others were inspired by seeing the city come together in such a big way. But no matter their individual reasons, everyone was united by their love for the city’s two-time Super Bowl champs. Go birds!
