Philadelphia- Temple will look to get back on the winning track Friday afternoon as they travel to Harrisonburg, VA to take on the #19 ranked Dukes of James Madison.
The Owls (3-5) are coming off a rough 4-0 loss to #12 ranked Northwestern, which scored two goals in each half on their way to the shutout victory. Earlier in the week, Temple beat Monmouth University by a score of 4-2, where senior forward Alyssa Delp recorded a hat trick to lead them to victory. Delp leads the Owls with seven goals this season.
As for James Madison, they come into this one with a record of 5-2 but, are coming off a 5-0 shutout loss to #9 ranked Louisville. That loss to Louisville ended a five game winning streak. Their other loss this season came in their season opener to Liberty University.
The Dukes are led by senior back Loes Stijntjes who has recorded seven goals this season, including three multi-goal games and a hat trick in an 8-1 win over Longwood earlier this season.
Even though the Dukes are coming off a shutout loss, they have outscored their opponents 31-16 this season, including outscoring opponents 16-5 in the first half of games. They have also outshot their opponents 137-76 this season, including 75-20 in the first half of games.
With stats like that, the key in this game for Temple will be trying to slow down James Madison’s attack in the first half and trying to beat them in the second half where their constant substitutions could wear down the Dukes.
