It’s not about how you start, it’s about how you finish, and that statement describes the Owls season to this point.

After a 3-2 loss at Drexel on October 18th, the Owls stood with a record of 3-12. In their next game, they were able to pull off an upset over #12 Old Dominion and after Saturday’s 3-2 overtime win at Villanova, they finished the season on a four game winning streak and clinched the second seed in the upcoming Big East tournament.

In the Big East tournament, Temple will face off against Villanova again, as they fell to the #3 seed with the loss. The other match up will feature top seed UCONN facing off against #4 seed Old Dominion.

After taking a 1-0 lead in this game, the Owls fell behind 2-1 before scoring the final two goals, including the overtime winner to give them a 3-2 win.

Temple took a 1-0 lead just over 23 minutes into the game, as senior forward Alyssa Delp buried her 13th goal of the season off of an assist from junior midfielder Paige Gross. This was the only goal scored by either team in the first half.

In the second half, Villanova scored two goals about three and a half minutes apart to give them a 2-1 lead. But, that lead lasted about one minute as sophomore forward Hattie Kuhns collected a rebound and got a shot off to beat the goaltender to tie the game at 2-2 with about five and half minutes left in the game.

The game then went into overtime but at about six minutes in, sophomore midfielder Maiyah Brown took a pass from Delp and found the back of the net for the game-winning goal.

The Owls defense held strong in this game as Villanova got off eight shots on goal and generated 17 penalty corners. Senior goaltender Haley Mitchell finished the game with six saves.
