This past Tuesday marked the Global Day of Giving, and Temple celebrated it in a special way.
Yesterday the university hosted Giving TUesday, a day of global philanthropy that hit a little closer to home.
Students, faculty, alumni and more gifted funds and donations to Temple to invest in the school’s future. During this time the community raised more than $47,000 for student athletes.
Giving Tuesday is typically celebrated the Tuesday after Thanksgiving as a time when people give and donate to organizations, such as charities and schools, for a cause they believe in.
Gathered around the Bell Tower, students were able to discuss what they plan to do to impact the world. The day is celebrated annually on campus, and is seen as a time of charitable and selfless giving.
Although Giving Tuesday is over, the charity does not stop there. Temple has a variety of ways to give back. From scholarship funds to specific schools, there is a way for everyone to get involved.
OWLCrowd, the university’s crowd funding platform, allows people to donate to a certain campaign or cause. There are currently six big Temple-related projects seeking funding right now.
Through gifts and donations, the university is able to continue its momentum, making strides in the classroom, throughout Philadelphia, and beyond. Donations aren’t just limited to Temple affiliates. Anyone looking to join the Temple community can contribute.
