Greek Week 2014 A Success

April 4-12th, Temple University Greek Association (TUGA) hosted Greek Week, a showcase for a variety of Greek chapters to compete for a grand prize, bragging rights and to raise money for various charitable causes.

“We actually raised over a thousand cans for Philabundance during our can creation and today we’re just simply having a social hour where organizations are having a banner contest using our Greek Week theme which is Monsters University to kind of put their own spin on it and show how creative they can be,” said TUGA president, Cori Shearer.

Greeks celebrate a win at Greek WeekThroughout the week, each fraternity and sorority competed in a variety of events including Greek Sing, Greek Olympics, Game Night and Capture the Flag to name a few with the awards ceremonies being held at the Bell Tower.

“It’s the one time of year where all of our organizations, all 31 chapters of fraternities and sororities, get to come together and share our values. Values is something that’s very important to us as fraternities and sororities whether it be philanthropy, sisterhood, brotherhood, social or academic,” said Shearer.

This year’s Greek Week champions included: Phi Sigma Sigma for Panhellenic, Kappa Alpha Psi for the National Pan-Hellenic Council, IFC Co-Champion Alpha Tau Omega & Kappa Sigma, and Iota Nu Delta for the Multicultural Greek Council.
