After the final round of the Quechee Club Collegiate Challenge at the Quechee Club’s Highlands Course in Quechee, Vermont, Temple men’s golf placed 5th out of 13 teams.
As a team, the Owls improved on their day one total by carding a total team score of 300, which resulted in a ten-over-par total for the day out of the best four scores on the team.
Leading the cause for the Owls was senior Brandon Matthews after he followed his one-over-par 73 in Saturdays round with a 73, putting him in a tie for 10th after the final round.
Freshman Sam Soeth finished in a tie for 17th in his first tournament for the Owls. Soeth backed up his first round 76 with a 74. Fellow freshman Trey Wren carded a 79 to put him in a tie for 46th.
Sophomore Evan Thornton and junior Evan Notaro finished their team debuts for the Temple this season by shooting 75 and 78, respectively. Thornton finished in a tie for 32nd while Notaro ended up in a tie for 37th.
Sophomore John Barone and senior Liam Fahey ended the tournament by shooting 77 and 81, placing 32nd and 63rd, respectively. They competed as individuals in this tournament.
Dartmouth won the two-day team tournament after recording a two-over-par total of 578. Billy Walthouse of the University of Rhode Island claimed individual honors after finishing with a cumulative score of six-under 138.
The Owls will continue their fall season when they tee it up in the Wolfpack Intercollegiate in Raleigh, North Carolina from October 4th until October 6th.
