National Coming Out Week (NCOW) is an annual event at Temple to raise awareness, inclusion, visibility, and acceptance for the LGBTQIA community. Its goal is to create a safe and open environment to help people learn more about the community. Since 2008, NCOW is part of the internationally recognized National Coming Out Day on October 11th. This year, NCOW is from October 10th-14th and is full of a variety of fun and exciting events.
Monday, October 10th – 5th Annual Drag Show
In its 5th year, the Drag Show is an empowering event that allows for individuals to explore gender fluidity in a creative environment. The doors open at 6:30 PM and the show begins at 7:00 PM at the Temple Performing Arts Center.
Tuesday, October 11th – Alumni Panel & Dialogues
An amazing event for LGBTQIA students to meet with LGBTQIA Temple alumni. This panel will address experiences and life after college and how to prepare for them. It begins at 7:00 PM in the Student Center Room 200C.
Wednesday, October 12th – Networking with Out Faculty & Staff
The first annual LGBTQIA mixer of students and faculty. A safe space for students to meet queer professionals and expand their network. The mixer begins at 7:00 PM in the Student Center Room 200AB.
Thursday, October 13th – Come Speak Out
A safe, open environment where LGBTQIA members of the Temple community can share their stories of coming out. This event hopes to inspire those who are unsure of coming out, and create an accepting environment for all LGBTQIA owls. It begins at 7:00 PM in the Underground.
Friday, October 14th – NCOW Fest
Temple’s own version of Outfest! Gather at the Bell Tower from 11:30-1:30 (Student Center atrium if there is rain) to meet supporters and members of the LGBTQIA community.
