After the final round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invite at the 6,516-yard par 71 Stockton Country Club in Stockton, California, Temple men’s golf placed 15th out of 16 teams.
As a team, the Owls carded a final round total of 297, which resulted in a 13-over-par score for the day. The top four scores on the team were counted for the final round.
Freshman Trey Wren placed the highest for the Owls with a three-day total of 11-over-par 224. Wren finished the tournament in a tie for 36th.
Senior Brandon Matthews shot a final round of 3-over-par 74. Matthews finished the tournament with a total of 12-over-par 225 and placed in 40th.
Sophomore Evan Thornton carded a closing round of 74 to finish with a 229 total. Thornton finished in a tie for 64th.
Redshirt freshman John Barone carded a final round 75 to place in a tie for 72nd with a 233 total. Freshman Sam Soeth shot a final round of 78 to finish with a tournament score of 240. Soeth placed in a tie for 84th.
Sacramento State won the three-day team tournament after carding a team total of 7-over-par 859 for the tournament. UC Irvine freshman David Kim took the individual honors after a three-day total of 4-under-par 209.
After a disappointing fall season, the Owls will look to improve with their young team in the upcoming spring season.
