Holiday Lights, Trees and tasty treats are filling up Dilworth and Love park for this year’s Christmas Village.
There are over 80 vendors selling a variety of goods from arts and crafts, food, jewelry, clothing, and of course holiday decorations.
Veronica Bilisitis, a junior at Temple, says she came to enjoy the holiday spirit “I wanted to be festive, I thought that it would be very beautiful.”
While Micheal Metalsky, a junior at Temple, says they happened upon the event and took in the sights “We just came to run some errands here in the city and we just stopped by City Hall just to get some funnel cake from the people that make it here.”
If you are feeling chilly after a long day at the Christmas Market, you can sit down and warm yourself up with a nice cup of hot cocoa as well purchase a variety of other beverages.
A variety of food is offered including German sausages, schnitzel, strudle and spätzle as well as dumplings, Belgian fries, and Swiss Raclette cheese sandwiches.
Christmas Village says it models itself after the open-air markets in Germany.
People don’t only just come here for the shopping. Guest can check out the rides, meet Santa, see the winter garden and listen to the marching band.
One of the most popular activites at the winter Market is ice skating at the Rothman skating rink. Temple students can get discounted ticket prices on Thursday with their student ID.
Students who present their ID will pay a price of three dollars for admission. Renting a pair of skates cost ten dollars.
“I really wanna go ice skating and explore the shops they seem very fun and festive”, says Billisitis
The Market has been a city-wide tradition since 2008 , but for most, its just one of many traditions for the holidays.
