Reddick Awarded In Second Straight Week

Temple Football’s senior DE Haason Reddick has been recognized for the second straight week by the American Athletic conference, including Defensive Player of the Week last week for his performance vs. SMU. He totaled 2 sacks and 2 forced fumbles to go along with 4 solo tackles in the Owls rout of the Mustangs 45-20.

Reddick was then named to the conference’s Weekly Honor Roll for his performance in a 34-27 loss to Memphis.

Reddick was undoubtedly under consideration for the most recent Player of the Week with his 11 tackle, 5.0 tackle for loss performance against Memphis. This week however, Navy upset #6 Houston- and the awards for offensive, defensive and special teams’ Players of the Week went to three Navy players. Reddick’s 5.0 tackles for loss tied a conference record.
With a slow start to the season, Reddick really burst onto the scene in the Owl’s Week 3 loss to Penn State when he totaled 7 tackles and defended a Trace Mcsorley pass. After the game he said he feels the defensive unit is starting to come together and build an identity.
So far he’s leading an Owls defense that leads the conference in pass defense, and ranks 3rd in total defense. A category the Owl’s are struggling with that they excelled in last season is the run game- they’re allowing opponents an average of 160.5 rush yards per game.
Reddick is a walk-on standout for the Owls who played the entirety of the 2015 season without being on scholarship, where he contributed in all but one game on defense. This offseason, he earned a single digit jersey- a coveted honor for the Owls, recognizing him as one of the toughest players on the roster.
