Philadelphia, PA — After losing two of their last three games on their road trip, the Temple Owls volleyball team returned home Sunday afternoon in front of a crowd of 237 looking to get back to winning ways against Eastern Carolina University. And they did just that, winning 3 sets to 1.
ECU came out strong winning the first set 25-18, but Temple went out to win the next three sets. The Pirates were set up well by Sabrina Gonzalez who had 48 assists, and a pair of teammates that had 18 digs each.
For Temple, Irem Asci set the tone with 22 kills. Sandra Sydlik took a step back from her usual number of assists with 26, but this gave room for Hannah Vandegrift to step up, who ended the match with 30 assists.
Temple has most of the week off, but has a busy weekend playing Houston on Friday at 7 PM, and Tulane on Monday at 1 PM. Both games are on Temple’s home floor at McGonigle hall.
