In a big day where the framework of Temple’s future soccer complex that will be on Broad and Jefferson tentatively for the 2016 season was revealed, Temple Women’s Soccer has checked several boxes today: continuing their winning streak to three wins, earning their fifth shutout win of the season, and defeating the cross-city rival La Salle for the first time since 2002.
With great defense and all offensive weapons in attack mode, they brought down the Explorers 3-0. La Salle is the second opponent the Owls have beaten who qualified for the 2014 NCAA Women’s Soccer tournament.
Jordan Nash once again showed that she is the right fit in the open pair of shoes left by AAC Preseason GK of the Year, Shauni Kerkhoff, who went out in a season-ending injury in the Owl’s 2-1 loss to Penn. Nash had 6 saves in the game while the Owls defense were also very protective of the net.
The offense today was scattered between three key players. Gabriella McKeown, Sarah McGlinn, and Erin Lafferty all added to the scoreboard in the game.
The Owls wrap up non-conference action with another cross-city rival. They will host the Saint Joseph’s Hawks on Sunday, September 20th, at 1pm in the Temple Ambler Soccer Complex. Live video and stats will be available on owlsports.com.
