The 21st annual donor dash took place on Sunday April 17th at the Philadelphia Art Museum. The event serves a different purpose than one just for sports. Many families come here in honor of a loved one who has been affected by organ donation.
10,000 participants including donor families, recipients, volunteers, sponsors, community and hospital partners who made the 21st Annual Donor Dash one that will be unforgettable.
The donor dash featured a 3k walk, 5k run, and a 10k run. Fox 29 served as the host station along with many different sponsors and vendors.
The Gift of life program has been sponsoring this event since 1996, and has been involved in organ donor awareness for 40 years.
These events have raised millions with almost $500,000 this year alone. The money raised will help support education, programming, and services to advance donation and transplantation, as well as towards the gift of life family house.

Currently 120,944 people need a lifesaving organ transplant and of those only 77,671 are active waiting list candidates.
With April being national donate life month, and the gift of life donor program being based in Philadelphia, the art museum and the banks of the Schuylkill river was the perfect setting for the annual event. The event has done nothing but grow since its inception 20 years ago, and this year was no different.
