Temple Basketball was dealt an unlucky blow Sunday morning.
According to Temple Athletics, freshman point guard Trey Lowe was injured in a one car accident early Sunday morning. His injuries are likely to keep him off the court for the remainder of the season. Lowe sustained upper body injuries and is currently being treated at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
“I visited Trey and his family on both Sunday and Monday at the hospital,” said Coach Fran Dunphy. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time and we are hopeful that he will make a full recovery.”
Lowe has played in all 28 games this year for the Owls, starting in five of them. Just two weeks ago, he erupted for a career high 21 points against then #1 Villanova, a game in which he went 5/8 on three point attempts. On the year, Lowe is averaging 4.8 points per game, which ranks sixth on the team. He also averages over 12 minutes per game.
The injury comes as the Owls are gearing up for the postseason hunt. With a 12-4 conference record, Temple has a one game edge over the Cincinnati Bearcats for the top seed in the AAC Tournament. Temple will compete for that crown next weekend, March 10th-13th.
