Temple Police issued a report on Friday, releasing information about two armed robberies that took place within 24 hours of each other. The first incident occurred on Thursday, September 10th followed by a second assault and robbery early Friday morning. Both robberies occurred within a block from one another, on the 1700 block of Fontain Street. The two assaults involved the use of force and may be connected, according to police investigations.
Temple Police announced additional information in efforts to increase awareness of criminal activities around campus and potentially aid in apprehending the suspect. The description issued read as follows:
• On Thursday, Sept. 10, at 8:35 p.m. a Temple student reported to police that he was grabbed from behind by an unknown male while in the 1700 block of Fontain Street. The male grabbed the victim’s wallet and fled west on Fontain Street. No injuries were reported.
• On Friday, Sept. 11, at 2:25 a.m., a person was approached by an unknown male in the 1700 block of Fontain Street. The male grabbed and struck him before taking a wallet. The male fled westbound on the 1800 block of Fontain Street.
A suspect is described as between 30 and 40 years old wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
