Update Abroad: High Schools in Tokyo

Update Abroad representative Yingqiao Zhao explores how high school culture differs in Tokyo than in the United States.  Study away students Peter Chheu and Anatol Steck have internships in Tokyo, Japan as English teachers in a local high school.  By doing it, they are learning about Japan’s younger generation.

According to Chheu, the students have a stronger work ethic than those in the United States, “I also notice that kids here are a lot more driven, they tend to stay after school a lot longer, until 6:30 pm which is a lot different from kids in the states.”

The supervisor of the school commented saying he taught in an American school for many years before coming to Japan.
