Since the season-ending leg injury of Senior Goalkeeper Shauni Kerkhoff in a loss to cross-city rival Penn, things for the Temple Owls Women’s Soccer team went from some of the highest regards in program history to a foreseeable future of another losing season. However, the Owls are still looking to show strength on the field with a built chemistry within the players still healthy.
Temple entered today 0-2-0 all-time against the University of New Hampshire, but 4-2-0 on the season. The first half for both teams were nil, with goalkeeping efforts by the Kerkhoff’s understudy Jordan Nash and the Wildcats’ Mimi Borkan. However, the power offense of Kelly Farrell and Sarah McGlinn solved the puzzle of UNH. Farrell and McGlinn posted two goals each while Nash kept the Wildcats blank on goal.
Temple earned their 5th win of the season, 4th shutout win of the season. Final score: Temple 4-0 UNH. The Owls return home to the Temple Ambler Soccer Complex this Sunday, September 13th, and they will take on Binghamton at 12pm. The game will be a part of a double-header as they will be followed by the Men’s Soccer team as they take on Yale at 3pm. Both games will have a live stream broadcasts along with live stats on owlsports.com.
