Temple’s women’s tennis team came from behind to defeat the UConn Huskies, 4-3 on Saturday at the East Hartford Tennis Club Sophomore Minami Okajima secured a Temple win with a sixth flight win.
UConn quickly gained a 2-0 lead after a win each in doubles and the second singles flight. Owls’ freshman Anais Nussaume cut the deficit to one after a 6-3, 6-0, fifth flight win. The Huskies quickly responded with a win at number 1 to go up 3-1 overall.
The Owls took off from there, taking the last three singles matches to fly past UConn. With the match tied at 3-3, Okajima rallied for a 7-6(4), 6-2 score at number 6 to lock up the win.
Temple now sits at 6 and 10 on the season. They will return to play on Friday, April 4, with a 2 p.m. match at UMBC.
