#15 Owls Go 2-0 In Dominant Weekend

Geasy Field, Philadelphia PA- The 15th ranked Owls (7-3) were led by forward Amber Youtz and goalie Lizzy Millen to cruise in two home victories over the Kent State Golden Flashes (2-6) and the American Eagles (5-5).

Temple got off to scorching starts in both games, going ahead of Kent State by two goals in the first eighteen minutes. Youtz scored the first goal in both contests, on her way to a hat trick versus Kent State; the fifth of her career.

Against American, Youtz scored again and is now fourth on Temple’s career goal list with 52. Junior Sarah Deck and sophomore Katie Foran also tallied goals against Kent State. Millen played 55 minutes in the game and saved seven shots on the way to a shutout. The defense played incredibly well clamping down on every opportunity that the Golden Flashes had.

The Owls overcame a second half comeback against American to beat a team who they hadn’t conquered in ten years. They went up 2-0 in the first half, then 3-0 through the second half and the Eagles came back in the second half to make it 3-2 but it was too little too late. Millen made seven saves, but gave up the two goals in the second half. Just 11 minutes into the second half, the Eagles Rebecca Treharne scored the team’s initial goal. Junior Amanda Fuertsch scored her first goal with 10 minutes remaining.

Temple returns to action at 5 PM on Friday at Providence.
