2025 BIPOC Film Festival

Temple hosted its 4th annual Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) film festival on February 13th, at The Reel in the Student Center.

The event was presented by The Diamond Screen and showcased work by up-and-coming filmmakers that are a part of Temple’s program.

11 different short films were showcased at this year’s film festival featuring several different genres from comedy, drama, documentaries.

This film festival has been a great way the past few years to show off the talent of film students at Temple, and specifically BIPOC students, during Black History Month.

Jason Lindner, the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications for TFMA, spoke about how this festival came about and highlighted others to come:

“This was actually inspired by the idea of the program itself, working with a student organization called “Filmed In Color”. We have other various film festivals over the year. We have a women’s film festival that is coming up on March 20th, a documentary festival, The BIPOC festival, which is this one, and an LGBTQ+ film festival.”

Emma Deku, a Film student at Temple, told Temple Update why the festival itself is important for the students and community:

“I think these films are great to impact the community just to showcase the talent that we have here in the school and build connections through that, and it gives us an inside view on people’s experiences and perceptions.”
