On April 11, Temple University’s Office of Emergency Management hosted a TUReady Fair to spread resources for communication at Temple and in the Philadelphia community.
Temple Update’s Terrence Brown spoke with Director Nicola Mammes and she expresses her passion for getting the word out to the community.
She states,” It’s good to know what resources are available. Our biggest thing here is communication and we have TUalert available and we also have the City of Philadelphia’s emergency management here. They have a program called Ready Philadelphia”
The City of Philadelphia’s Office of Emergency Management gave away Go Bags and influenced the community to sign up for their text alert system, Ready Philadelphia.
Olivia Gillison states, “Sign up via 888-777 and text the word ReadyPhila. That will get you information about severe weather like flash floodings, tornado warnings, etc.”
During the fair, the community was surprised by the Temple Marching Bands’ presence. They had a chance to perform a few musical numbers.
