After gaining attention around the Temple community and across the city of Philadelphia, the Black Student Union is speaking out after their silent protest at Temple’s homecoming game.
With social justice issues at a head across the nation and around campus, Black Student Union member, Kourtney Thompson, explained why the student organization decided to protest Temple football games. “This was not just something that we just staged, this was just not something to get us something to get us publicity, but it was something we actually truly believe in.”
She also added that their protest received backlash on social media from the community, proving their point that racism is alive.
Temple’s Black Student Union plans to continue the protests throughout football season.
