Blanca Fernandez Wins NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship

Blanca Fernandez 3

Blanca Fernandez continues her dominant season. After winning the American Athletic Championship just a couple of weeks ago, she just won NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships with a time of 20:52.

It was the sixth time she took first place this year. Coach Snyder was very excited about the accomplishment for Fernandez saying:

“It’s been a progression throughout the entire year. She made the turn with 300 meters to go behind two other runners, and pulled away over the last 200 meters. It was a really windy day and a packed race up front throughout, but as runners dropped she moved up and she put herself in great position to win a regional championship, which is the first for this program. It’s a really, really special day and I hope the rest of the team can gather some momentum off Blanca’s performances moving forward.”

Temple as a team finished 23rd out 30 teams. Regardless, Fernandez looks to continue her dominant season next weekend in Louisville, Kentucky at the NCAA Championships. Fernandez will be gunning to earn her third career NCAA All-American Honor. Here are the rest of the results from today’s race:
