Adultos, niños, e incluso perros, marcharon a Parliament Square en protesta por Brexit.
Organizado por “Put it to the People,” los asistentes escucharon a oradores notables como el alcalde de Londres, Sadiq Khan, el ex viceprimer ministro, Michael Heseltine, y algunos miembros del Parlamento.
¿La misión principal de la marcha? Consiguiendo otro voto para Brexit.
Jessica Jackson, una estudiante universitaria, vino con su amiga Julia Rosell Jackson y la madre de Julia, Helen Jackson y compartió por qué cree que a la gente se le debe dar otro voto, “As a UK citizen who was born abroad in Hong Kong I think it’s my duty to rally for what’s right and what happened in the 2016 referendum with all the fake news and misinformation and lies, I think it’s ridiculous that we’re not given a second say seeing as MPs are given three,” dijo Jessica Jackson.
La mayoría de los manifestantes sacaron sus propios letreros, trajes y banderas explicando por qué era necesaria una segunda votación.
Durante la marcha, yo estuvé enfrente de las Houses of Parliament, donde más de un millón de personas vinieron a protestar Brexit. Muchos dejaron sus señales detrás de las puertas que los rodeaban, esperando dejar un mensaje.
“The reason I’m most passionate about coming to march is because I think the last vote wasn’t fair and so I want us to be able to vote with all the facts, and that’s why I wanted to put it on a sign,” la estudiante universitaria Julia Rosell Jackson dijo.
Para la familia O’Flynn, los manifestantes informados llegaron tan joven como 12 y 6 años de edad, “The jobs are stopping, people are losing their jobs, no one is going to house much holidays no one can move freely when they want to and overall it’s a bad idea,” dijo Lajla O’Flynn de 12 años.
En el futuro, algunos manifestantes como Leo Buckley tienen esperanzas para el futuro y creen que el Reino Unido se quedará en la UE, “If we continue with Brexit state predictions, 12 percent drop in the economy, already food’s a lot more expensive, the pounds dropped to 20 percent, we’re losing our good schemes like erasmus so education but more fundamentally, as it stands we’re members of 27 other nations we can stand to live, learn, work, fall in love, get divorced in 27 other countries and that has been taken away and that too large a sacrifice for a country as integrated into the European community as ours to make. So we’re going to remain.”
Los manifestantes esperaban obtener su voto antes del 29 de marzo cuando un votación en Parlamento y la salida de la UE fue predicho, sin embargo, los miembros del Parlamento negaron la votación y la UE movieron la partida del Reino Unido al 12 de abril.
