In an email sent out by Temple President John Fry, he confirmed the identity of the victim, Chase Myles, a sophomore in the Klein College of Media and Communication. According to NBC10, the shooter is 23-year-old Nicholas Iaderosa, who is also a Temple student.
Vice President of Public Safety Jennifer Griffin says that the two planned to meet on the night of the incident.
“What we can say is that these individuals were known to each other. They planned to meet, so there is a relationship there to some extent, yes.”
When asked about what’s next for Iaderosa, Griffin says she’s not sure yet.
“Way too early to say, you know, at this point, you know, when trials would be held. That would be in the future for sure, but definitely not anytime soon.”
Incidents like this have raised safety concerns among the Temple community and those who live off campus.
“That is off campus, so we patrol these areas, but we’re not going inside of private residences or anything like that. On campus, you know, we continue to respond to calls for service. We have proactive patrols.”
Griffin emphasized one message about this string of violence.
“Violence impacts every age, every gender, every socioeconomic class. And so this is not a Temple-specific issue.”
