Carver High School Has Record Number of Students Attending Temple University for the 2024-2025 School Year

Temple University is welcoming a record number of students from George Washington Carver High School of Engineering and Science this year. A special partnership from the High School’s leadership is making a difference for these students as they transition to college life. Just down the street from Temple University, Carver High School now has 42 graduates starting their college career at Temple this academic year.

Principal Dr. Darryl Johnson believes the school’s collaboration with Temple has prepared their students to be trailblazers once they graduate from high school. Carver High currently has several students taking a data science class at Temple University to get ahead on a career in engineering. This reminds students that Temple is a local option for their higher education.

The support of Temple Police has also played a key role in helping these students transition to college life. Temple Police Officer Leroy Wimberly regularly meets with Carver High students during his mentorship program in which he helps Carver High students transition into their college career. Officer Wimberly believes that Tempel Police are representatives of the University and they take pride in helping new students begin their higher education.
