Field Hockey Dominates in 2-0 Weekend

Homecoming may as well be renamed Amber Youtz Weekend for the field hockey team. Against the Villanova Wildcats (3-9) and La Salle Explorers (6-6) Youtz combined for seven goals and two hat tricks to lead the 15th ranked Owls to a 6-3 win over Villanova and 5-1 Victory of La Salle.

In the game against Villanova on Friday afternoon, the Owls tallied 30 shots converting on six of them. Youtz scored the only goal before halftime by either team but after intermission, both teams burst out in an onslaught of offense. They combined for six goals in 10 minutes. Four minutes after halftime, Youtz tallied her second goal.

Villanova’s Lauren Wilson put one in past goalie Lizzy Millen to cut the Temple lead in half but Sarah Deck scored for Temple to balloon the lead to two. Alyssa Delp and Youtz were involved in more goals for each of them and that put the Owls ahead by four. Villanova scored two more goals but the scoring would stop there for them. As time expired Youtz put one in off of a corner and completed the scoring with four goals.

In the La Salle contest, the Explorers were outmatched from the get go. They only tallied three shots the entire game compared to Temple’s fifteen. Amber Youtz tallied her second hat trick of the weekend and seventh of her career leading to the Owls to a 5-1 victory. Alyssa Delp, and Nicole Foran also scored for the Owls in a phenomenal all-around game.
