Field Hockey Goes 1-1 Over Weekend

The Owls (5-2) went into their game with the Bucknell Bison (4-2) on Saturday knowing that if they wanted to remain nationally ranked they would have to continue to do what they had been doing all season, winning. The Owls knew that they would have to bring their “A” game if they were going to defeat the talented Bison. They certainly did bring their best game in a stout defensive performance by goalie Lizzy Millen, saving seven shots on the afternoon.

On offense, senior All-American Amber Youtz netted two goals, which was all that the Owls needed to win the low scoring affair. Youtz leads the team with six goals and is now 5th place on the all-time list with 48 career goals.

The Owl (5-3) entered their contest at home against the Drexel Dragons (4-3) exhausted. They played an exhilarating game against Bucknell on Saturday, took the bus home and had another game Sunday. They came to play defensively but the offense was lacking, as they took a 1-0 defeat in sudden death overtime.

The Dragons and Owls went 79 scoreless minutes until Christina Conrad put one past goalie Lizzy Millen into the back of the net. Millen saved four out of the five shots she faced on the afternoon. The 13th ranked Owls will return to game action next Saturday at home versus Kent State (2-5) at noon.
