In what has been a tough season for the Owls, they were able to pull off their best victory of the season Tuesday as they beat #12 ranked Old Dominion.

The lone goal in the game came off the stick of senior midfielder Sarah Deck and Owls senior goalie Haley Mitchell had a spectacular game in net as the Owls knocked off the Monarchs by a score of 1-0.

Temple put home the only goal in the game just over 17 minutes in as Deck took a pass from senior back Rachel Steinman off of a penalty corner and buried it home for what ended up being the game winning goal.

The goal came off of one of only three shots on goal in the game for the Owls and the penalty corner was one of six in the game for the Owls.

As for Old Dominion, they were able to generate 11 penalty corners in the game and got off 10 shots on goal, but Mitchell was able to save every one of them in what was the best game of the season for her in goal.

The Monarchs really started pressing forward on offense at the 56 minute mark of the game and in a ten minute stretch they were able to get six shots on goal, all of which were saved by Mitchell.

Their best chance came with about six minutes left in the game as they were able to get off two shots on goal off of a penalty corner, but the Owls defense and Mitchell held strong again to keep the game scoreless.

After the Monarchs were unable to put a goal home off of that chance, they hurt themselves even more as two different players drew green cards about a minute apart in the 63rd minute of the game and they were just unable to generate any more good scoring chances after that.

The Owls will now travel back to Philadelphia and get ready for a game against Georgetown on Friday at 3 p.m. at Geasey Field.
